Sometimes we don't realize the value of things we've learned in our youth until we're much older. This EP is inspired by the good books I read in my formative years and the characters therein. It is a work of pure ekphrasis, an homage to those moments spent captivated in the pages that made the world a more vibrant place in times of angst.
Annotations:
These songs are named for the years in which their literary sources are set, with an implicit theme throughout each of them: change. Be it transitioning from human into something else entirely, getting plucked from the comfort of your own habitat and thrown headfirst into a foreign place, trudging through adolescence, or reinventing yourself for the love of another, Annotations is imbued with the themes of shift and adaptation through each of its four tracks.
It is fully my intention for these songs to pulse and vibe musically and emotionally with these sentiments, as it is my opinion that empathy lies at the core of all forms of music to some degree. My hope is that these songs will resonate with some of you who may need them or simply appreciate them. I realize that they are not for everyone, as taste is relevant and the world of music is a very big place. I am one person who wrote these songs and created them with the help of my friends who were kind enough to lend their talents toward my vision.
And so I will leave these songs here in this small corner of the internet for whoever may want them. There will be more songs in the future, as this is the first effort of what I will leave behind when I am a dead local man, as morbidly dry and gloomy as that may sound. Perhaps some live shows could be arranged should there be traction, but until then, please enjoy if you're able.

Thanks to the authors whose work inspired me to create these.
